For all the attention devoted to the hazing practices and bullying of a few collegiate fraternities, the average Greek frat brother is more active in his community and has a higher G.P.A. than his non-fraternity peers. In order to compare the 75 fraternities that are members of the North-American Interfraternity Conference, we first considered the number of active collegiate chapters for each. We also considered the number of alumni who are currently members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as the alumni, if any, who became president. Lastly, we considered the amount of money the fraternity’s non-profit fund donated to 501(c)(3) organizations according the most recent public filing (funds were normalized using a per-chapter ratio). Funds donated to individual chapters, classified as a 501(c)(7) non-profit social club, were not considered for this aspect of the ranking.

Curious about how this was tabulated. With six presidents, many senators, many congressmen, supreme court justices, heads of major corporations, and more distinguished alumni than one can easily count I wonder how DEKE was not listed?1?

I often wonder where they compile these figures from? Of course Chapter numbers are always in flux. We all initiate some and we all lose some through stupidity as in Booze abuse and hazing.

To me, this is where Alumni should come into play to keep a rein on things such as hazing. Alchol is another matter as we as Alums cannot be thered every day/night. But when things come out, and they always do, then is the time to step in.

Yes, they are young adults but are still just moveing away from home and a leash, so kicking up heels so to speak. These kids will drink, but the idea is to imbue on them the fact that binge drinking is not really good! Hell we all did the same but this is a different time and age when GLO's are under the microscope by everyone!!
Come to mind, SUNY-Alfred where a Locla Pldge died and the kicked off all GLO's from campus and still today not Greeks.

I suspect DKE was hurt by the number of active chapters.

The inclusion of black GLOs which generally have no competitive housing is strange, but a lot of GLOs would like to have half the alumni involvement as the black GLOs.

Black GLOs do much more Alumni initiating than white GLOs. Not sure what the ratio is with alum and undergrad are but would be intereting.
