Downtown Gorham Maine was closed off for over three hours during a police standoff at a fraternity house Wednesday night. A fraternity brother at Sigma Nu, identified as 23-year-old Alan-Michael Santos who has addresses in Winchester and Wilmington, Massachusetts, threatened to shoot his fellow brothers, according to police. “It’s definitely upsetting to hear because it was a kid that people liked and he just got caught up in a bad situation,” said Sigma Nu member Dan Brassard. Another Sigma Nu brother, Eric Drummond, told WBZ-TV he knew Santos had a gun and that’s why he moved out. Police say Santos had been drinking with some of his fraternity brothers at a nearby bar earlier in the evening and had been asked to leave. An argument with his friends allegedly led to the violent threats. “There was an incident where a firearm had been pointed at one of the brothers,” said Lt. Christopher Sanborn of the Gorham Police Department. “At one point when they were back at the building the individual was barricaded inside the residence.” The brothers called 911. Up to 10 brothers and guests were in the house at the time. All got out safely. Police surrounded the home which is off-campus at the University of Southern Maine. boston.cbslocal.com/2014/01/23/winchester-man-arrested-in-armed-standoff-at-maine-university-frat/
