Library dedicated to Dick Clark at SU frat house
11/02 11:27 am Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Dick Clark remembered Syracuse after he hit it big. He visited the dome and spent time at his old fraternity house years after attending Syracuse University, an education he credited with helping to launch a long career in show business. In death, Clark is paying it forward.
With a $1-million donation left to Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) after Clark's death, the fraternity is unveiling the "Dick Clark Communications Library".
The effort was important enough to Clark that his wife and daughter, Kari and Cindy Clark, flew to Syracuse to attend the official dedication on Saturday afternoon.
A quote by clark will hang in the library, "If you fall down, get up and walk again. If you can't walk, crawl. If that idea fails, have another one."
The area of the house used for the library has been referred to as a "pool room" where members enjoy down-time with games. Computers and other tools for study replaced an aging pool table.
Organizers of the event say Clark was known to spend hours in front of the television at the DKE house, studying broadcasting. Members of the fraternity hope the history of the library will encourage future students to study hard while pursuing their own goals.
