According to the SigEp Journal Fall 2010, there as some of us know Bills in Congress to allow we as members of the Greek Letter Organizations to do nate money to our Chapters and get tax benefits for them. There are is at least 1 Billion $ available for building and upgrading housing that is not used and just sitting. The reason being, it is not tax deductable. I suggest very strongly that you contact your IHQ's and point this out to them. The link is: www.fraternalcaucus.org/ This is so important to all of us for not only buying, building, or referbashing our houseing for the safety of our members, a place to meet/call home, and having a pressence on any campus. You and we can make a difference!

KU fraternity is sued after injury at ‘Fiji Island’ party By TONY RIZZO The Kansas City Star A Stilwell man who says he was injured this fall at a University of Kansas fraternity party is suing the fraternity and its chapter house association. The suit alleges that Matt Fritzie was hurt in September when he was ordered to dive into a homemade swimming pool during Phi Gamma Delta’s “Fiji Island” party. Fritzie, a fraternity pledge, suffered “severe injuries, including permanent spine damage and paralysis,” according to the lawsuit filed this week in Jackson County Circuit Court. Although the incident occurred in Lawrence, the lawsuit was filed in Missouri because the fraternity conducts business there and the member of the chapter house association who focused on pledge treatment and education is based there, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that fraternity officials were aware of past problems related to the annual Fiji Island party, and national fraternity officials specifically prohibited the building of any pools or ponds. Despite those rules, fraternity members ordered pledges to construct a pool in the fraternity’s backyard using sandbags, according to the lawsuit. Minors were allowed to consume alcohol during the Sept. 17 party, and a fraternity member ordered Fritzie to dive into the pool, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit does not specify an amount of damages being sought. Attorneys representing Fritzie did not return calls seeking comment. The fraternity association member named in the lawsuit also did not respond to a request for comment. www.kansascity.com/2010/12/30/2551778/ku-fraternity-is-sued-after-injury.html#Attachments:

I sent correspondence during the last congress to Ohio's 2 senators requesting support for the housing/tax issue. With a new senate (new Ohio representation), I'll have to do so again for this congress.

Good, I too will have to do the same! This is super important for all of us to do. This could mean a lot to each of us and our Chapters/Nationals. Get on to them while many are new and young. It will take a tax from the USA, but it will help us two fold: Build and refurbish houses. Add thingsd that local Govts. want such as a fire safe house as we all do! Save the Colleges money. Narrow it down don't it?
