Pi Kappa Alpha Though Pike found itself fighting down to the wire in four tough games this year, their resilient tenacity has struck fear in future playoff opponents. This team wins ugly, but can no doubt play with anybody. Still, their record could have looked a whole lot duller had things turned out differently this week in Mud Bowl II. Immediately following a 17-13 loss to Phi Delt, officials revealed Phi Delt’s star receiver/CB Brandon “Sleazy Island” Salese had in fact violated league rules by accepting payments from the team during his recruitment. FBI officials called in to investigate allegations that Salese sought recruitment money through a known Phi Delt booster who in turn provided his family with several cash payments. Phi Delt was subsequently disqualified, handing Pike their 3rd victory and a wild-card spot. Phi Delt will face heavy recruiting sanctions in the off-season, and may have to forfeit all wins this year, as well as their 2007 championship trophy. Said Salese after the allegations were revealed, “F--k that. You hear me out there, America? F--k that horses--t. I throw my f---ing ass on the line every day for these guys, and you’re telling me I do it for money? Horses--t. I accepted money, why don’t I have no f---ing grill? Or a brand new SUV? I f---ing live on Old Milwaukee and Olde English, not Cognac and f---ing Jack.”
