Frat House Memoirist Tucker Max to Serve Beer on Broadway, Off-Broadway
A stage adaptation of Max's controversial book, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, is aiming for a New York run this summer.

Looks like Bros on Broadway has officially caught on. The sexcapades, drug-fueled romps, and booze-binging of frat house memoirist Tucker Max will come to the New York stage later this year, Variety reports, in I Hope They Serve Beer on Broadway, a 10-actor adaptation of Max's controversial book, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.
Directed and dramaturged by Christopher Carter Sanderson, artistic director of the environmental Shakespearean troupe Gorilla Rep, the piece will play a developmental off-Broadway run one night per week beginning this summer, prior to a presumed move to the Great White Way. No theater has been announced as of yet, though the space will, naturally, have a bar, and audiences will be invited to imbibe (presumably from the now theater-bar-standard souvenir sippy cups with the show's logo on it).
Sanderson tells Variety that, unlike the 2009 film adaptation of the memoir, the stage show will not feature nudity or live sex. Still, even without nudity or sex, live or otherwise, the show's reenactments of Max's bizarre escapades, recounted in stories like "Tucker goes to Vegas," "Girl Almost Beats Tucker at his Own Game," and "The Pee Blame" will very likely attract one of Max's key audiences, uber-hetero dudes whose favorite Broadway performer is Mike Tyson
