Being an Advisor can be a tough job at times!
Are you from that chapter that you are advising?
modoreney while on UC-Berkley Acacia House Corp. is also trying to advise them and he is from RPI Chapter.
Are you to young and relate to them or to old and they do not relate to you?
To me, an Advisor needs to be old enough if he is from that chapter, that all of the Actives have graduated, and while he may know the current members, he has picked up knowledge that he can pass along sagely! ;D

Defiitely some fine lines to walk on the advsor's job. In general my fraternity wants a chapter advisor to be a minimum of 25 yrs old to in theory have giben some time between him and while he was an active. Prefer more time than that but in a case of that or no chapter advisor, guess which we need more... Have to guide and point out definite legal issues, but at same time it's their show and their time to run things. When it's all said and done hope they make the right decision because you can't be there all the time - you're not a parent, or baby sitter. They're young adults but lack much life experience though they don't think that at all.

T J have read this many times and YES, if you as Advisor try to tell them what to do, they will turn away no matter how good the advice you give them.
It dang sure is a fine line. How to make them think something is really their idea, right?
You want to spoon feed/ or spank them but like babies they will spit it out like pablam (SIC). ;D
