TKE office agreed case warranted a hazing charge

A University of Charleston fraternity has been suspended amid hazing allegations.

University spokeswoman Jennie Ferretti told The Charleston Gazette (http://bit.ly/qhntVz ) that the local chapter was suspended last month and has been removed from campus for one year for violating the school's code of student conduct.

The chapter's six members unsuccessfully appealed the suspension, which will be in force as member from TKE's national board investigate the allegations before deciding whether to revoke the university's chapter or help the group work to improve.

Officials said they couldn't comment on the specifics of the hazing allegations. But both the university and the national TKE office agreed that the case warranted a hazing charge.

thanks for the post on this. I've been able to use this article on what NOT to do in a fraternity.

I'll reserve comment very strongly as I may be on the court that hears charges against the chapter for TKE Offices of the Grand Chapter (HQ).

As we grow more matured as alumni, we look back and ask did we do some of this type of things?

While I can only speak for me, I founded B X as a non hazing local. That is why I got guys to join! Now some 44 years later, I am proud to say we still do not haze! LXA has come down with a strict policy of non hazing while some give lip service and I think we all know who I am refering to!

It has been years enough now that chapters should realize with the many regulations by our Nationals and State laws, they should figure out, DAH, maybe we should not do this!

I know how both of you feel so I am not preaching to this choir!
