Thank goodness to modorney who sends me a ton of books to read, thanks Mike! One of interest that he sent was about the Knights Templar per sey. While reading it, I also watch a re-run of the Di Vinci Code and going wow!!! It seems that a lot of really history is not explored pre christian time. What a lot of historical facts are unknown except for, French, Italian, English, Portugues, are left out such as the Norse? Great historical semi read and mind bogler when it comes to Masonic teachings after/before Templers?

Afrter reading The Davince Coade, I had to make sure Rosslyn Chapel was on teh Scotland trip - as many other tourists have done.
If nothing else, it made sure I saw a terrific piece of architecture

Hey TJ how neat!!
In reading some of the Templar type books, Da Vinci Code, and the movie with Nick Cage, I just wonder how far afield some of the authors actually were?
Historians center on the middle east, Egypt being one main place with the pyramids! But what of the pyramids in Mexico/South America? Add to that, Stonehenge and other similar types of buildings or monoliths in England, and USA?
WEB Griffith is a favorite but has not had anything new out in a while.
John Sandford for detective books. Who would put a character in Minneapolis? LOL!
For a great read about Wyatt Earp, "I married Wyatt Earp" by Sarah Marcus(Wyatts last wife) along with Glen Boyer!
Like Detective, and historical novels. But just read to enjoy reading!!
John Whyte and his books about the Knights Templar!

Tom,
Did I tell you that the Templer Church in the book is the Chapel of my Inn of Court? I was actually "Called to the Bar" in the Temple Church. Check out the "Hon. Society of the Inner Temple" web page. It has a lot of interesting stuff in it. Currently I am reading some fairly heavy Jurisprudence texts for my second LLM. Also a couple of volumes of philosophy by the late Pierre Theillard de Chardin, SJ who has some really different takes on human development. Evolution from a Catholic point of view. Actually very interesting. Also, I am waiting for WEB Griffin's two new titles that are coming out later this year. Peter

Dang, he is coming out with something new? Love his books. Only problem is he refers back so much as in @ 1/3 of his books. Still would look forward to reading them! As to Templars, their History is much more than has ever been written as to for fact and not fiction. Much of the Masonic tradition is in bodied with them and the building that went on under their control. Some say as even as far as Canada and the N W part of the USA! The Temples of Scotish and York Rites were outstaning in this country as works of buildings. The one I went through (32) in Scothish Rites was magnificicant but now gone. Washington D C was set out by a Mason and many symbols can be seen in them. Heck, just look at our money, LOL! If you are a Mason, you will understand what I am refering to! The all seeing eye ontop of the pyramid!

Hm, interesting challenge! modorney is a 3 rd degree and pretty much into it. Would love to see him move up the ladder! What degree? We are more worriesome to many as Masons at times than being Greeks. Just look into history and that shows what Masons did and what part the Templars did. Love History! I know you do from our chats!

No one fears the Catholics? Hmmm, last time I looked Pope Benedict used to run the Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith (Propaganda Fideii). In earlier times they were run by a Dominican dude named Tom Torquemada of the Holy Office of the Inquisition! I'd be a bit nervous about that outfit. Oh, by the way, I am a Jesuit trained Roman Catholic.

In England the Jesuits are still viewed with a bit of nervous apprehension which I find mildly amusing. But then, its only reasonable after all. Oro pro societas!

Not being a Roman Catholic, but an Anglecan Catholic, I find it interesting to see the discussions here.
As I understand it, a Pope back when became anti Masons. As the Templars/Masons had more power and money than The Roman Catholic church.
He denounced them and started what has become the Knights of Columbas.
The Masons welcome any and all I beleive.

Tom - Knights of Columbus started in USA in a parrish as a way of helping widows with children back in the years when medicine didn't aloow everyone to live to an old age. It's more an insurance and help the church type organization

I stand corrected my friend! See how ideas get started by unknown people like me! I always thought it was started because Roman Catholics were not accepted by Masons. How times have changed as there are Black Masonic Lodges. Found this out before I was inducted into Masons when I was in college. Lot like being Greek Organizations as many were taken after Masons. I guess we are a lot closer than many think! ;D
