FOr many high school students and college students who want to learn more about fraternities and sororities, here is a website that ranks and reviews GLOs across most universities and colleges in the USA. While it is not accurate, it gives some more realistic picture of what the chapters are really like up there that the rush chair or website or even IFC would never reveal to people. This also gives them a idea esp if they are kinda far or busy to visit what the chapters are about. At the same time given how people on that site could slam and trash houses, I would caution relying on that source and seriously take it with a grain of salt. www.greekrank.com/What do you think?

Peter, checked it out when you sent to me. Loved that LXA was spot lighted! But like any site, one wonders where they get some of the info that they use??? Glad that you posted it here so others can take a look at it!

This is a quick way to find out how many chapters a national has. Howevber, don't join a fraternity because they have lots of chapters, join it because you like the guys and you fit their style. All things being equal, and you have a choice of more than one, go with the one with the most chapters.

Thanks Mike for the suggestion. Seeing that you are mentioning the number of chapters a national has, I don't see whats the difference between the number that national has vs the other. What is the significance of nationals that have more while some with less? What does that suggest?

Peter,
Mike can explain also but, with more chapters there is more money in the coffers to expand with. Say as two examples, Acacia and LXA:
LXA has more chapters ergo more money coming in and can hire more ELC's or Trqveling Secretary's to visit chapters.
Okay for example in the case of Acacia, they have only 3 chapters in the western area-1-Cal., 1-Or, 1-Co. So would not be cost effective for a person to be sent there.
Say KS, they use a lot of Alumni volunteers to do the same job.
Looking at some of the larger Nationals, they have more chapters such as LXA,TKE, SN, SX, etc, while they have more chapters than some, they can afford the paid reps to visit as chapters are closer.
LXA for example have in Ks. and Mo. at least 10. Not sure with TKE but up there also.
Logistics and money are major items.
Good point to bring up though.

Yep good point. Though I am wondering with more chapters and more money that it could bring, how does that apply to people at the lower level such as: pledges, active members, chapter officers and even alumni? What significance does that bring them?

What significance does that bring them? It allows chapters more flexibiliaty with help from their IHQ. With more chapters in close proximity it also cuts cost down for travel from HQs who have reps as it were for visitations and keeping and eye on, or aiding in any problems situations that might arise. That makes a big difference in recruiting/oversite/ and keeping Chapters out of trouble, as in maybe a hazing situation as it were.

Thanks TOm for letting me know about it. In regards to the website that ranks GLOs after I have looked at the reviews, I on the other side think it could especially be trashy. Especially these houses that are threatened slam each other. What even bugs me further is how they slam each other, which does in turn slew or make it seem exaggerated for rushees who want to at least check it out.
