Fraters, TKE Parents and Friends of TKE (e.g., critical members of our TKE family):
This email is important. Please take just a few moments and give it a good read, as every word has been carefully written in relation to your unique role in Tau Kappa Epsilon. (And, yes, we hope you will forgive us yet understand our rationale for sending you two "scoreboard updates" during the next two weeks (May 25 and 31). Our 10,752 undergraduates' personal development depends upon it.)
It's no surprise that May 31st marks the end of the Fraternity's fiscal year. As a result, we are writing to inform you that during the next three weeks we will be quite active and highly visible in our electronic communication. We will be driving hard toward (hopeful) achievement of the TKE Foundation's FY11 TKE Leadership Fund goal of $280,000.
In terms of "insider" information, you may find the following "scoop" interesting...
Quantitative Summary (for those who like context and "the numbers")
1 $280,000 is needed to fund TKE's educational programs in FY11. ($270,829 was raised last year.)
2 $239,532 has been raised to date, as compared to $195,761 at this same time last year (a $43,771 "to the positive" pace year over year.)
3 $40,468 still needs to be raised in May 2011 to achieve this year's goal, as compared to $75,068 that was raised for the TLF in May 2010.
4 Last year, a total of 3,623 individuals made gifts to the TLF, which included 2,716 TKE alumni (1.12% of our alumni base of 243,414.)
5 To date, a total of 2,442 individuals have made gifts to the TLF, which includes 2,190 TKE alumni (.9% of our alumni base.) Thankfully, we can recognize 45 Friends of TKE and 206 undergraduates who have already made gifts this fiscal year.
Qualitative Summary (for those who like insight into the TKE Leadership Fund's direct impact at the local chapter level)
1 Some $75,000 was granted to support Tekes attending the Charles R. Walgreen, Jr., TKE Leadership Academy in August 2010. The Walgreen Academy Endowment fund provided $20,800, the TKE Leadership Fund funded $19,200, and $35,000 additional support was provided by those who joined Ernie Ernest in his challenge match to support the young men in attendance at the Academy.
2 More than $50,000 was distributed to TKE students as a part of the Foundation's Scholarship Program.
3 More than 1,200 of our 10,752 young Tekes from 190 chapters graduated from a TKE Leadership Fund co-sponsored leadership program like the Charles R. Walgreen, Jr., TKE Leadership Academy, the Regional Leadership Conferences, and UIFI.
So, you may be thinking, "Where do we go from here in the final three weeks of the fiscal year? How in the world is TKE going to raise $40,468 in just 20 days?" Well, we're glad you asked.
With 11 months of fundraising activity behind us, we must now turn to the final phase of our annual TLF campaign. Here's how we see it...
If at least 154 donors give this year's all-alumni-gift-average of $262, we can close the gap on the final $40,468 needed to reach this year's TLF goal.
Specifically, you are going to see two intentionally scheduled emails of outreach between now and May 31st (May 25 and 31).
Obviously, we could make a big dent in the amount to be raised if each of you participate at some level - whatever is appropriate to one's own circumstances. For those receiving this email who have already given, you have our heartfelt thanks and appreciation. You have put us in a position to achieve this Foundation goal.
To our Fraters, TKE parents and Friends of TKE - the backbone of the Fraternity's success - please hang with us during the next few weeks as we provide two more "scoreboard" email updates. (We're determined to make them catchy, upbeat and concise!) Yes, we're doing it for the good of the order: so our 10,752 undergraduates and the volunteers who serve them have the programs, services and tools necessary to build "better men for a better world."
Indeed, this year's theme says it best: "They can't go it alone...and with your help, they won't have to." Thanks again for doing your part to help the financial cause and for encouraging others within your circle of influence to do the same.
