PHILOMATH, Ore. -- Philomath Police say a small group of college students is responsible for stealing a Christmas tree from a man's yard.
Police say six Oregon State University Sigma Chi fraternity members are responsible for cutting down and stealing the tree.
Neal Munson, the owner of the tree, says he's not pressing charges.
Instead, he simply wants a letter of apology and $40 from each of those involved.
He plans to match the money, add a little more, and then donate the $500 to the Philomath Food Bank.

The owner was to kind to these clowns, men of SX, BAH, humbug! To cut a "living tree" out of a mans yard is wrong in so many ways and steal off in the night! I hope he gets the money as it will go for a good cause in these hard times!
