Community Service

I know we had some postings on how Community Service by GLOs doesn't make the "news" but haziing or drinking accidents or arrests do...

June 1 began our new year so some reports have been compiled for service hours and funds raised by chapters - these are some #s for chapters I work with and I'm very proud of them.

University of Michigan where I am chapter advisor:
925 hrs donated and $6,750 cash donated ;D

Bowling Green State University where I am on the board:
229 hrs donated and $760 cash donated

Uof Mich@Dearborn where I used to be chapter advisor and serve as Province advisor:
405 hrs donated and $2,196 cash donated

Just 3 chapters over 1500 hrs and almost $10,000 - the sad part is I'm sure they missed some hrs that would qualify.

I haven't seen figures compiled for what TKE has done collectively as a national organization, but based on my 3 it has to be iimpressive.

note with BGSU is they were a colony and just chartered as a full chapter a couple months ago - they expect much higher #s this fiscal year.

I had to take a few minutes to toot the horn for what these men have accomplished - if you have any #s for your groups, PLEASE post them also.

While I do no not any figures, I know my Chapter last year worked with all 3 Sororities on their main events for charities.

While I don't have any real figures, I know for our Great American Food Drive, the biggest in the country we have done tons of food and @ 1 mill at least so far.

Per chapter on each I would have no idea and doubt if our IHQ would eithr.

Sounds like your advising for your chapter has done a lot of good for them! Congratulations my friend!

The #s are in for the year for TKE nationwide ;D

Community Service hours 253,511

Those are the #s reported by the chapters - so I'm sure a few hrs and $ not reported in the total.

Also, 3618 new initiates for the year!

The jokes are just friendly rivalries and competition among college men. That's all good - we had our share back at them on my campus ;D

It would be a nightmate to tabulate, but I'd love to see those #s averaged for GLO members compared to independents Who do you think would on top in that competition?

Dah, there is no question about that!!!

GLO's always do more community service but less credit.

It would be interesting to find out how much was actually given in time and money but would be imposible to track.

Many times jokes were made about TKEveryone, Lamb chops, and maybe others, we as major GLOs have given a lot no mater what.

There is not a member on this site that I do not admire and their GLOs! Who really gives more than we do!

I would venture that over the years there have been billions of $$$ let alone counting the time that we have done.

There fore, a job well done by one and all. Now if we could get the Govt. action that we could use!
