November 17, 2010 Student government member charged in WVU hazing By The Associated Press The Associated Press Advertiser MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A member of the Student Government Association is charged with misdemeanor hazing after a fraternity house incident at West Virginia University. The Dominion Post reports 20-year-old Ahmad Abdul Khalik Alashi is free after posting $1,000 bail. He was arraigned Monday evening in Monongalia County Magistrate Court. The SGA website says Alashi is from Jordan. WVU police say the incident occurred at the Phi Sigma Kappa house early Monday, when they found 10 blindfolded men covered with food. One officer says he saw Alashi slapping the men in the face, but Alashi fled. Chapter President Sam Whalen says the fraternity is cooperating with authorities. WVU is also investigating.
